Midwife Georgia Barrington always knew she wanted to be a mom. But when she was just 15, that dream was shattered with a rare diagnosis: she had been born without a womb. For most, that kind of news would feel like the end of the road. But for Georgia, hope came from the unlikeliest place—her childhood best friend, Daisy Hope.
They were just 16 when Daisy made a promise: “If you ever need someone to carry your baby, I’ll do it.” It was said half in jest—but fully meant.
Fast-forward more than a decade later, and that teenage vow is now turning into something truly magical. Daisy is pregnant—with Georgia and her partner Lloyd’s biological baby.

“I always meant it,” Daisy says now, 23 weeks into the pregnancy. “Georgia’s my best friend. And if I could help her become a mom, why wouldn’t I?”
Their story began long before surrogacy and IVF appointments. Georgia and Daisy grew up together, thick as thieves. When Daisy gave birth to her own daughter, Emilia, in 2022, there was only one person she wanted in the delivery room—Georgia. As fate would have it, Georgia was the one who delivered her best friend’s baby.
“I always knew I’d deliver her daughter,” Georgia says, beaming. “But I never imagined she’d turn around and carry mine.”
The road hasn’t been easy. Their first attempt at pregnancy ended in heartbreak—a miscarriage that rocked them all. Daisy blamed her body. Georgia worried she’d asked too much. But even through grief, their friendship held firm.
“It was a very sad day,” Daisy says. “But I knew this wasn’t the end.”
And it wasn’t. Their second round of IVF worked. At six weeks, a tiny heartbeat flickered on the screen. This time, things felt different.
Georgia, cautious and nervous, wears her midwife hat tightly. “I’ve seen it all in my job. I can’t help but be anxious.” But every kick Daisy feels brings a little more reassurance. Thanks to matching “bond touch” bracelets Daisy gifted her, every flutter in Daisy’s belly sends a buzz to Georgia’s wrist—reminding her: the baby is real, and growing stronger every day.

What makes their story even more beautiful is the love surrounding them. Their partners, Lloyd and Oliver, are all in. Daisy’s partner, Oliver, knew from their very first date that this was something she wanted to do for Georgia. “It was a no-brainer,” he says. “You do this for people you love.”
Their parents, long-time family friends, are thrilled. Georgia’s dad even called Daisy’s dad and joked, “Your daughter’s carrying my grandchild.” And on TikTok, their story has captured hearts everywhere, drawing comments like “I’m crying my eyes out” and “This is what friendship is all about.”
Now, as they look toward the October due date, the plan is for Georgia to be there not just as the mom—but as the midwife. “I’ll be right there to catch the baby,” she says with a smile. “There won’t be a dry eye in the room.”
Daisy adds, “It’s going to be magic. Our babies will grow up knowing how much love brought them into the world.”
Because some promises made at 16? They really do come true.
